What is Botox®?

Botox is a safe, injectable treatment for lines and wrinkles that develop over the years as you repeatedly use muscles to make facial expressions, which are termed, “dynamic” wrinkles.

When Botox is injected into muscles, it blocks nerve signals that make those muscles contract. As the targeted muscles relax, the wrinkles they produce are significantly diminished or eliminated.

What wrinkles are treated with Botox?

You develop two types of wrinkles as you age: static wrinkles and dynamic wrinkles. Age-related changes like dehydration, loss of skin strength and elasticity, and sun damage cause static wrinkles.

Botox only affects dynamic wrinkles associated with muscle movement, effectively treating moderate or severe cosmetic concerns such as:

• Crow’s feet
• Frown lines between your eyebrows
• Forehead furrows
• Neck bands
• Downturned mouth
• Dimpling on chin

When will you see Botox results and how long do they last?

You should notice a difference within 5 days after your Botox treatment, but it could take a week or two to see optimal results.*

Your improved appearance lasts three to six months before the Botox effect wears off, then you can choose to schedule another treatment. What cosmetic problem is treated with Kybella®?

Kybella is an injectable treatment that specifically targets fat below your chin, called submental fat (or more commonly, a double chin). It is also used, off-label to treat jowl fat, bra fat and inner knee area fat.

You can develop a double chin from aging, weight gain, genetics, or any combination of the three. No matter what causes it, fat often sticks around despite diet and exercise, making you look older and heavier.

How does Kybella eliminate your double chin?

Kybella consists of a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which your body naturally produces to break down dietary fats so that they can be absorbed. Deoxycholic acid exerts the same action when it’s injected into submental fat: It destroys fat cells, then the waste is eliminated by your body.

Dr. Saluja administers multiple small injections to evenly eliminate fat and reduce the size of your double chin. The total treatment only takes about 15 minutes, depending on the number of injections required.

You may develop some bruising, swelling, or numbness in the treated areas. After these side effects subside in a few days, you can get back to your normal daily activities.
